The Power Of Your Website
Published February 1, 2013
Take Facebook for example. A billion people hanging out together on the same site. (I still find that pretty incredible.) Day after month. That’s a vast amount of people you can gain exposure to.
But you don’t own it. Your profile – not yours, your page – doesn’t belong to you. This means – they make the rules, and they change the rules. And if you’ve been on Facebook for more than a couple of weeks, you have seen changes being made…it happens all the time.
Facebook giveth, and Facebook taketh away.
Yes, they CAN even suspend or delete your page. And occasionally they do. Nothing you can do about it.
That’s why you need to pay attention to your website. ‘cos that IS yours. No one is going to take that away from you. It is your piece of Real Estate on the web. You need to make sure it is in great shape.
You also need to make sure that you send your ‘folks’ from Social Media to your website on a regular basis (for example by blogging, vlogging or making offers). And eventually get them on a list.
Social Media is your first point of contact. It’s where you meet and greet. It’s where you make the connection. Your website is where you should generate and make the sales. Because you don’t want to wake up one morning and find that your business has disappeared with your Facebook account.
