Get Fit For Business

Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m a FAILURE! I lost more than 7kgs before xmas and I was so proud. Even over christmas and with all the parties, I didn’t put any weight back on…and then the ‘usual’ rot set in. Slowly, creeping-ly the bad habits found their way back into my life and slowly but surely the kilos were piled back on (not all of them…but almost).

Then one of my friends got a gift: ‘The Easy Way to stop smoking’ by Alan Carr. The very book that helped me stop smoking 10 years ago. And I remembered that he also wrote a book about losing weight. Out with the kindle, in with the book…and i have got to say: it’s just as mind-changing as the smoking one.

Let me add that I have also wanted to become a 99% vegetarian for quite some time. I don’t want to go completely without any meat, but I just want to drastically cut down on my (and my family’s consumption). I just don’t believe that meat is all that healthy as it is made out to be. Or dairy for that matter. In fact, it might cause a lot of our modern health problems.

We’re not meant to consume milk after our 3rd year, and if we were it wouldn’t be the cow variety. I already learnt at vet school how different our own breast-milk is from virtually any other mammal’s milk – different proteins, different fat content, different EVERYthing. People think they have a disease when they are found ‘lactose-intolerant’ when in fact we all are!

And btw – what exactly happened with the cows themselves that made them produce over 60% more milk today than they did 25 years ago? Is that a healthy development (for us OR the cows?)? I doubt it.

Right or wrong – I have always found it fair that we kill animals to eat meat, but never in this modern mass-rearing and mass-slaughtering way that we do today. I’ve seen it. I had to work in a slaughterhouse as part of my Veterinary training and we killed babies (calves to be exact) – NOT to eat, no – for the trash. It was disgusting.

It amazes me how Alan Carr can state so many things that I already knew, but put them in a way that really and completely changed my mindset about it anyway.

Diets just don’t work. Willpower alone will never be enough to change your lifestyle. You have to really get how absurd some of your actions really are to create real change.

The first instruction in the book is just to change breakfast and have just fruit, nothing else. Sounds like a plan! Anybody want to join the challenge? Leave a comment and we can support each other!

Here’s a link to the book, if you want to check it out.

Now you might argue that this whole post has nothing to do with business! Well, first of all if you know me a little then you will know that I don’t really separate my business from my love. I love what I do, I work with people I adore and I’d gladly have every single one around for dinner…and I wouldn’t consider it a chore or work.

I am also all about building a business that is sustainable – financially, physically and emotionally.

You Are What You Eat.

In fact, you are what you put inside of yourself and that goes for food and fluids as much as for mental food such as books and TV, newspapers and so forth.

Garbage in, garbage out.

A lot of what we eat today is plain garbage. And if you’re feeling tired, lethargic and unhealthy, you might want to examine what you’re putting in.
